The Burn Pit at Camp Anaconda

Burn pit Camp Anaconda Iraq
This guy got some good pictures of the burn pit at Camp Anaconda in Iraq. I inhaled that shit for a year.

During my first month in Iraq, a Lieutenant Colonel in charge of public affairs told us we could not photograph the burn pit or talk about it with the media. So, I saw it as entirely possible that nobody would ever find out about the burn pit if I didn’t do something.

Sounds just like the military to try to keep the burn pit hush-hush, even as it is clearly a hazard to anyone around it.

Minorities to Rally in Greenwood, SC

Posted by WTN | | , , , | Comments

More tea gatherings:

Are you concerned about high taxes, out of control government spending, bailouts, nationalizing banks and government healthcare? Citizens in Greenwood and surrounding counties will host a Freedom Rally as part of the nationwide TEA Party (Taxed Enough Already) movement. In celebration of our nation's independence patriotic rallies and TEA Parties will take place across the nation. The rally will take place at the Greenwood County Fairgrounds on June 27 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at the intersection of Hwy 221 and the 225 by- pass. The patriotic rally will let our government representatives know that we as ordinary citizens, want our voices heard.

These guys have clearly been watching too much Fox Opinion Channel. You want your voices heard? Then vote.

Oh that's right, the majority of America rejects your ideas. GwdToday.com should be rebranded since they're more or less a local branch of FOC.

Cojones, Crickets, and Marijuana

14 JUNE 2009

In March of this year, I became a monthly donor to MPP and I sent the following letter to President Obama, Jim DeMint, Lindsey Graham, and Gresham Barrett:

I recently did something that demonstrates the gravity that applies to the subject of this letter. In this harsh, trying economic climate, I made a financial donation to a national organization that advocates the elimination of the completely irrational laws against adult marijuana use. I’m tired of the absurdity of most politicians’ attitudes toward this serious issue.

You are very well aware of the economic wastefulness that is a direct result of the prohibition of marijuana, so I will not rehash the numbers for you; I just ask that you not ignore the facts. Any argument one makes against legalization could be easily and categorically debunked with a reminder of the inherent liberties that a genuinely free society should enjoy, and of government’s role in protecting those liberties, not tearing them down.

Knowing these truths, for what reason do most legislators continue to pretend that it is okay for a free country to continue barreling down a highway that is paved with utter nonsense? I am looking forward to a sane answer to that question, and I hope you will not disappoint me with platitudes.

What enlightening answers have I received? Since I don't speak cricket, I can't tell you. Apparently only the crickets have the cojones to answer.

Please, if anyone can give me a rational reason for drug prohibition, let me know. Oh it's bad for you; it's evil? Well, I'd ask you why should someone be arrested and sent to the most socialist place in the world (jail), just for holding marijuana in their hand or growing a plant on their own property?
